The FOURTH MEETING OF APEC GROUP OF FRIENDS ON DISABILITY (GOFD), Senior Officials Meeting Two (SOM2) held on Saturday 19th May 2018 at the International Convention Centre in Port Moresby received praise from the participating APEC Economies based on the Agendas that were discussed during the meeting. In his Welcome and Opening Remarks, Minister for Religion, Youth and Community Development, Hon. Soroi EOE said he was grateful to note that the Agenda of Disability Inclusive Development is part of the APEC discussions. The Minister also thanked the other APEC Economies for sharing their International Best Practices during the GOFD Symposium saying the young nation of Papua New Guinea is willing to learn from those good experiences and will look forward for greater collaboration in the areas of Assistive Devices, Capacity Development and Resource Centres for our Persons with Disabilities. Minister EOE further stressed the importance Information & Communication Technology in the Digital Age is a Valuable tool for Persons with Disabilities that can reduce or eliminate any Barriers, while it opens new opportunities and empowers PWD’s to the same degree as those who are able bodied. Meanwhile the Highlight of the day was the Launching of “ASSISTIVE DEVICES + INTERNET” CROSS-BORDER E-COMMERCE PLATFORM by the GOFD Chair Mr You Liang and Hon. Soroi EOE.
