Thursday 01st August 2019 Department for Community Development and Religion (DFCDR) Secretary Anna Solomon is happy with the corporation of Ministers in re-aligning programs and development goals as government responsible. “Am very happy about what my Minister and Prime Minister are doing, and how other ministers are coming together to re-align programs and development agendas as the head of government agencies.” Solomon said this in-front of her senior management team at Kokoda Trail Hotel whilst opening the two-day 2nd Quarter Review Workshop of the Department for Community Development and Religion (DFCDR). “I want you to know that all our fights haven’t been in vain but it’s very well supported by NEC and it will continue.” “And our job is to continue the great work that we are doing in our respective work zones.” “We must continue to work harder and smarter to deliver and gain the trust of our development partners, other government agencies and the citizens of this country,” Solomon assured her senior managers.

Managers from respective sections of the Department presented their achievements, and challenges faced in the last three months (April to June) with their way forward as per the Key Result Area (KRA) indicated in the 2019 Annual Operational Plan of the department which is aligned to the Government’s Priority Areas and Development Goals.

Some of the presentations emphasize on promoting informal economy, social sector and law, establishing database for respective sections, implementing District Community Development Centres, Human Rights, addressing GBV, developing a Strategy on how to address law and order issues in Hela Province. The workshop ended on Wednesday (31st July) with open discussion for resolutions on most of the challenges raised by the managers during their presentations.
